I have tried uninstalling the program several times, without any success.
Is this a new Mac computer?
Does it have one of the new Apple CPUs? (M1 ARM processor)
If so, that is almost certainly what is causing the issue. I can see online that that can cause an issue with the Unity file saving framework used by the app.
I've upgraded to Big Sur and tried many different ways to replicate this, but unfortunately I just can't seem to reproduce the bug.
Can you zip up your entire SeeMusic app data folder and send it? If you haven't imported any video files this should be easy. You can also temporarily move the video files out of the Video Files folder and then zip it up. The app data folder is located at ~/Library/Containers/com.VisualMusicDesign.SeeMusicUnity
To easily get to this folder, use the GO menu at the top of the Finder, and select GO TO FOLDER, and copy that address into it.
I would really appreciate it! I've attached a screenshot of where to find the GO menu in the Finder:
@visualmusicdesign The zip file for some reason is still 10gb, which is too large to send on here. I compressed it by right clicking and selecting compress, is there a different way I should do it?
1. Thanks very much for sending the computer info - very helpful to know its an Intel processor.
2. The folder is probably big because of Video Files that you had imported. If you enter this address into the GO menu:
~/Library/Containers/SeeMusic/Data/Library/Application Support/com.VisualMusicDesign.SeeMusicUnity/Video Files
... It will take you to the Video Files folder. Can you move whatever is in there temporarily somewhere else, then send the Data folder?
@visualmusicdesign Hi there I have moved all the video files out however it is still 1gb.
Version 3.9.6 is now up for MacOS - could you give it a try and let me know if it works when you have a chance?
Thanks again for your help!
It is working now. Thank for all your help. :)
@dylanplayspiano Wow - that is really awesome to hear 😀
I truly appreciate your help with this. I’d be happy to add two free months to your account - just let me know your account email.
Id also really appreciate, if you have a minute, if you could leave a 5-star rating on the Mac App Store for the app - it would mean a lot.
The bug was caused specifically by the "Keyboard" being turned off in Effect Settings.
I'll have a bug fix up soon, but in the meantime, reenabling the Keyboard would be a workaround.
Thank you for all your help so far. Here's the zip folder
Thank you so, so much for sending this.
I'm finally able to replicate the issue. I'm not sure whats causing it yet, but I'm sure I'll be able to fix it in the next 24-48 hours.
Really appreciate your patience in helping with this.
@visualmusicdesign Fantastic! I look forward to hearing from you.
Ok - if you enter this into the GO menu:
Can you zip up just the following 5 folders and send them?
Sample Save Files
Settings Save Files
That should not be more than 1 mb.
Oh oh oh - Is this a new Mac computer?
Big Sur 11.2.2
Yes, it was working on Wednesday the 03/03/21. It seems the upgrade has caused it.
Thank you for reporting this issue.
Another user has also reported this issue and I’m trying my very best to figure out what could be causing it.
- What version of MacOS are you running? (ex. 10.15.6)
- Did an older version of SeeMusic ever work previously? Does the issue seem to have been caused by the upgrade?
