  • I want to upgrade SeeMusic Windows, but I can't use PayPal"
The best solution would be to use a cellphone to upgrade your SeeMusic account on the iOS or Android version. Just log in with the same credentials, then use the Google Play or Apple App Store to process the payment. You can then use the same account back on your Windows PC.
  • Purchased a subscription, but my account didn't upgrade"
This can happen on very rare occasions, and I'm trying to make sure it never happens! In the meantime, I will happily upgrade your subscription manually on the server. Please email support at visualmusicdesign@gmail.com with your: 1. Email purchase receipt for upgrade (Screenshot or email forward) 2. The Username for your SeeMusic app account
  • Can I buy SeeMusic once for life, instead of a subscription?"
SeeMusic is subscription based - there are no plans to offer a lifetime purchase option at this time. The subscription prices for SeeMusic are meant to be affordable, while still making developing and supporting the app sustainable over the long term.
  • Can I upgrade SeeMusic offline?
Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to unlock the app offline. If you can connect temporarily to the internet, you can activate the app, and then use it for 6 hours of offline in-app time - then you will need to connect to the internet again. There are not any plans to offer additional offline access at this time.
  • Why are the subscription prices different on each platform?
The subscription prices are based on how much a of a cut the App Store takes from the purchase. On Apple platforms, Apple takes 30% of the purchase, so the price is correspondingly higher.
  • MacOS Monthly Subscription - I was billed, but my subscription didn't renew!"
Version 2.5.2 includes a fix that should hopefully prevent this from happening again in the future! - In the meantime, you should be able to use the Restore Purchases button in the Account panel to update your subscription. - If for any reason you can’t click the Restore Purchases button, please try updating the app from the App Store. If your subscription still is not renewing properly, please email your most recent subscription receipt to visualmusicdesign@gmail.com, and we can manually update the subscription on the server. Thank you for your patience!
  • How do I use SeeMusic?
Please take a look at the Video Tutorials to understand the workflow for creating a video in the SeeMusic app: How to Make a Piano Video with Particles in SeeMusic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NiPJyWJgIs4 How to Record in SeeMusic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdZbZW-hO94
  • What is MIDI?  Do I need a MIDI file to use SeeMusic?
MIDI files contain the data for a musical performance - basically, which notes were played when, and for how long. You will need to record a MIDI file during your performance to make a video with SeeMusic. There is currently no good way to process Audio or Video files into a MIDI file. You can record MIDI files directly inside SeeMusic! Please see this Video Tutorial for more info about Recording in SeeMusic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdZbZW-hO94 You can also record MIDIs outside SeeMusic in an application like Logic X or Cubase, then import them into SeeMusic.

  • How do I import a file to SeeMusic Android?
    1. Download the file you want to import onto your phone's storage, or Google Drive 2. Use the Files app or Google Drive app to import the file to SeeMusic, by tapping the file, then choosing "Open with SeeMusic"
  • How do I import a file to SeeMusic iOS?
    - Tap the Import Files button at the right of the main app screen to see some instructions for adding files to the app, as well as easy buttons to import Videos or Images. - For MIDI files, you'll need to download the MIDI to your iOS device, then open up the Files app. You can download files on iOS from the web using Safari, or from Messages or Mail. - You can open the Files app from inside the SeeMusic app, by tapping the Import Files button, then tapping "Open Files app" - From the Files app, tap the file, tap "Share", tap "More...", then tap "Open in SeeMusic"
  • I imported a Video, but the lights and particles aren't showing up!"
SeeMusic requires MIDI data to create a visualization, not just a video. You will need to record or import a MIDI file in order for the app to create a visualization in SeeMusic.
  • Can I record video in SeeMusic?
Yes! Version 5.7 of SeeMusic and later now includes video recording. Use Input Settings to select your camera input, and turn on the Live Camera View.
  • SeeMusic is stuck at 0% during rendering
Unfortunately, there is a high chance that this is an issue with the graphics card not being compatible with one of the frameworks in the app, and you may need to use a different device to render videos with SeeMusic. If you would still like to see if there's any way to find a fix, here are the debugging steps to try: 1. Are you able to render with ALL of the Effects in Visual Settings DISABLED? 2. Are you able to render ANY part of any the sample pieces? 3. If none of the sample pieces render with all effects disabled, then there is nothing I can do to fix the issue on your device. 4. If you are able to render with some settings or pieces but not others, then please make a post on the Support Forum: https://www.visualmusicdesign.com/forum/technical-support Please include the following information: - What platform and device are you using? Please send as many details as possible. (ex. MacOS 10.14, MacBook Pro 3.1 GHz) - Please explain which settings allow the app to render, and which settings cause the app not to render. - After attempting a render, please send the Log file from the app. Windows Log File C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Visual Music Design\SeeMusic\Player.log (This folder might be hidden - you might need to Show Hidden Files in the View options in Windows Explorer) MacOS ~/Library/Containers/com.VisualMusicDesign.SeeMusicUnity/Data/Library/Logs/Visual Music Design/SeeMusic/Player.log To easily get to this folder, use the GO menu at the top of the Finder, and select GO TO FOLDER, and copy that address into it. If you have any issues uploading the log file to the website, you can email it to visualmusicdesign@gmail.com
  • SeeMusic renders, but there's something wrong with the finished render"

  • When I open SeeMusic Windows, I get a warning that it's unsafe or contains a virus"
To move past the warning, click: 1. "More Info" 2. "Run Anyway" SeeMusic absolutely does not contain any viruses, malware, or adware of any kind. Any detected virus from the app is a false positive. Please see this forum post for users who have verified that there are no viruses in SeeMusic: https://www.visualmusicdesign.com/forum/general-discussion/virus-detected-when-downloading-and-opening-seemusic-for-windows-version-1-13 In addition, SeeMusic is also distributed on the Apple MacOS and iOS App Stores, which have the strictest rules about checking apps for viruses or any other troubling behavior.
  • SeeMusic won't open - Crashes on launch
This issue could potentially be caused by a hardware or operating system compatibility issue, especially on Android phones, or Windows running Windows 7 or earlier. In this case, there would not be anything we can do to help. If you are experiencing this issue on a recent desktop computer, please let us know by making a post on the Support Forum! https://www.visualmusicdesign.com/forum
  • The SeeMusic visuals are laggy or slow
SeeMusic includes very high performance effects, designed to create videos at the highest level. Even if you experience lag in the live visuals, SeeMusic can still render out flawless videos with no lag. If you would like to use SeeMusic as a live performance visualizer, you may need to disable some of the most intense effects on some devices. Here is a list of the effects you should try disabling in Visual Settings to increase the smoothness of the live visuals in the app: Try Disabling: 1. Texture 2. Saber 3. Glow 4. Particles - Try switching between CPU and GPU Particles in Particle Settings - Try reducing Particle Count in Particle Settings
  • Will I get a Copyright Claim for using SeeMusic for my videos?
You absolutely will not get a copyright claim from SeeMusic for using the app to create the visuals for your video! SeeMusic is designed to help creators on YouTube and other platforms make amazing content for their own successful channels, and has no claim on the videos you make with it. The SeeMusic app is not responsible for any copyright claims you may incur by making videos using songs written or performed by other artists. Please examine YouTube's copyright policies as an example of how copyright for musical compositions is handled by streaming platforms. SeeMusic also includes several sample MIDI, Audio, and Video files - please do not attempt to represent the sample piece files as your own content or performances.
  • Gradual Sync Issue
Problem: Video is gradually out of sync by a second or two by the end of the video. This usually happens because of video recorded at 29.97 or 59.97 frames per second. The issue is with the camera codec and the way the computer reads it - not SeeMusic specifically. Here is how to check and fix that issue: 1. Render out the MIDI file data to an audio file, using either SeeMusic or a DAW like Logic or Cubase 2. Import both the audio file you created from the MIDI, and the video file, to a video editor like Final Cut X or Premiere 3. Retime the Video file (change it’s speed) so that it aligns perfectly with that newly created audio file The process of creating these videos is inherently complicated. I try my best to make the process as easy as possible with SeeMusic, but ultimately there’s still a lot that’s beyond my control, especially with the codecs and hardware users use to record.
  • Align Video Footage
Your video footage doesn't need to line up with the virtual keyboard. It only needs to line up with the falling notes. Recent versions of SeeMusic have an aligner that sits above your footage to make alignment easier. 1. Use Rotation to get your footage to match the rotation of the aligner. 2. Use Position X to align the horizontal position of Middle C in your video and the aligner. 3. Use Crop to crop out the extra edges of your video. Crop Top will automatically slide your footage up, so that the top of your video remains aligned with the top of the keyboard - this is by design. 4. Use Scale so that your video matches the horizontal size of the aligner. Don't worry yet about the ends of your video matching the ends of the aligner - just try to get either end to be off by an equal amount. 5. Use Note Position Distortion to shift the ends of the aligner to match your video.
